Rental Cars
Most things in Lake Louise are walkable from Mountaineer Lodge. But a rental car opens up the rest of the Rockies, well beyond what the shuttle covers. Here are the rental car options in and around Lake Louise, Banff National Park.
When You Need a Car in Lake Louise
The village itself is walkable. Shops and restaurants at Samson Mall are a 2-minute walk from the lodge, and the free ski shuttle handles Lake Louise Ski Resort, 5 minutes away.
A car makes sense if you're planning to:
- Drive the Icefields Parkway toward Jasper
- Visit Moraine Lake or explore beyond the shuttle route
- Day trip into Banff, a 40-minute drive (57 km)
- Head back to Calgary, a 2-hour drive (183 km)
