40 minutes west of Banff and 2 hours from Calgary, getting to Lake Louise is an easy drive on the Trans Canada Highway to the doors of the Mountaineer Lodge.

Driving Directions to Mountaineer Lodge
From Calgary International Airport, Alberta (200 km or 2 hours drive)
- Head south on Airport Road NE
- Turn left onto Barlow Trail NE, Turn left onto Airport Trail (signs directing to Hwy#2)
- Take Deerfoot Trail North to Stoney Trail West #201
- Take Exit #36 towards Highway #1 / Trans Canada Highway to Banff
- Continue on Trans-Canada Hwy 1 to the Lake Louise exit
- Turn left towards town of Lake Louise
- Turn left at first 4-way stop onto Village Road, follow to Mountaineer Lodge
- Across the street from the Petro-Canada Gas Station
From Calgary, Alberta Canada (167 km or 1.75 hours)
- Take the 16th Ave W exit out of the city
- 16th Ave W becomes Trans-Canada Hwy 1 upon exiting the city
- Continue on Trans-Canada Hwy 1 to the Lake Louise exit
- Turn left towards town of Lake Louise
- Turn left at first 4-way stop onto Village Road, follow to Mountaineer Lodge
- Across the street from the Petro-Canada Gas Station
From Jasper, Alberta Canada (231 km or 2.5 hours)
- Drive South on Highway #93 (Columbia Icefields Parkway)
- Exit East onto Bow Valley Parkway to Lake Louise
- Exit right into Lake Louise
- Turn left onto Village Road and follow to Mountaineer Lodge on your right
- Across the street from the Petro-Canada Gas Station
Road Construction along Lake Louise Drive
Parks Canada is launching a road resurfacing project, taking place from May 21 to fall 2024. It does not affect access to Mountaineer Lodge, however it will impact your plans if you visit Lake Louise or Moraine Lake.

Lake Louise offers a couple of rental car companies to choose from. Rent in Lake Louise or you can Rent in Calgary and drop off in Lake Louise or Banff.

There are a variety of options to get you to Lake Louise and even a few free shuttles that go to and from Banff from Lake Louise.
