Choose Your Relay
Teams can choose to tackle the full distance or stick to a specific section of the highway.
The Original 15 This is the big one. Your team of 15 runners covers the entire 260 km distance from Banff to Jasper. To make sure you finish in daylight, the team splits up and runs the South and North phases at the same time.
The South Phase (South 6) This 105 km section is a 6 person relay. It starts at Castle Mountain Junction and finishes at Saskatchewan River Crossing. Since the starting line is just 20 minutes from our door, we are a perfect basecamp for teams running this leg.
The North Phase (North 9) This 155 km section is a 9 person relay. It kicks off at Saskatchewan River Crossing and heads north to the finish line in Jasper.

How It Works: Quick Guide for Teams
Here are a few logistical details to help you plan your weekend:
- Simultaneous Start: Both the South and North phases kick off at 7:00 AM sharp. This ensures everyone finishes before the sun sets.
- Mandatory Captains Meeting: Race captains must attend a mandatory briefing on Friday, June 5th at 6:00 PM. For South Phase and Original 15 teams, this meeting is conveniently held right here in Lake Louise (typically at the Lake Louise Inn).
- Bussing: The race provides shuttles for the early stages (S1–S3) to manage traffic, so you won’t need to worry about driving your teammates to the very first few handoffs.
- The Finish Line: Everything wraps up in Jasper with a dinner and awards celebration that runs from 6:00 PM until midnight.
